DealGo ("DealGo", "we", "us") operates the website at www.dealgo.in and the DealGo mobile application for Android and iOS (together, the "Platform"). DealGo is a deals marketplace: local businesses list offers, and you buy and redeem them.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to both the website and the mobile app.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you give us

Account information. Your mobile phone number is required to create an account — it is your login identity. We verify it by sending a one-time password (OTP).

Optionally, from your profile, you may also provide:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Age range
  • Gender
  • Notification preferences (email, SMS, WhatsApp, marketing)

Providing age range and gender is optional. We use them only to make deal recommendations more relevant to you.

Content you create. Reviews and ratings you post, deals you add to your wishlist, and messages you send us through the contact form.

1.2 Location information

With your permission, the mobile app collects your device's precise location (GPS) to show deals near you, sort deals by distance, and identify which city and locality you are in.

  • We convert your coordinates into a city and locality name using Google's Geocoding service.
  • We store your most recent coordinates and your selected city/locality on your device, and your selected locality with your account.
  • Location is collected only while the app is in use. We do not track your location in the background.
  • You can refuse or revoke this permission in your device settings at any time. The app still works — you simply choose your locality manually instead.

The website may infer your approximate city from your IP address.

1.3 Transaction information

  • Deals you purchase, purchase amount, date and time
  • Redemption codes issued to you, and when and where you redeem them (including QR scans at a merchant's premises)
  • Your DealCoins balance and the transactions that change it
  • Payment status and the payment reference ID returned by our payment gateway

We never receive or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN, or bank credentials. Payments are processed entirely by Razorpay on their own systems.

1.4 Information collected automatically

  • Device type, operating system and version, and app version
  • IP address, browser type (website)
  • Pages and screens viewed, features used, and referring website
  • Crash reports and error diagnostics

1.5 Cookies and similar technologies

On the website we use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your selected city and preferences, and measure traffic. In the mobile app we use secure device storage for your session token and preferences rather than cookies.

2. Android Permissions We Request

We request permissions only when the related feature is used, and you can decline.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Create and secure your account, and sign you in
  • Show you relevant deals for your city and locality
  • Process purchases, issue redemption codes, and let merchants verify redemptions
  • Operate the DealCoins rewards programme
  • Send you transactional messages — OTPs, purchase confirmations, and redemption confirmations — by SMS and WhatsApp
  • Send promotional messages about new deals and offers, where you have not opted out
  • Respond to your enquiries and provide customer support
  • Detect and prevent fraud, misuse of codes, and abuse of the Platform
  • Diagnose crashes and improve performance and reliability
  • Comply with legal and tax obligations

4. Who We Share Your Information With

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as described here.

4.1 Merchants

When you purchase a deal, the merchant receives the information needed to honour it — typically your name, the deal purchased, and your redemption code. Merchants are independent businesses and handle your data under their own policies.

4.2 Service providers

These providers may process data outside India. We share only what each provider needs to perform its function.

4.3 Legal and safety

We may disclose information where required by law, court order, or a lawful request from a public authority, or where necessary to protect our rights, users, or the public.

4.4 Business transfers

If DealGo is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer to the acquiring entity. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

5. Your Choices

Marketing messages. Turn off email, SMS, WhatsApp, or marketing notifications individually under Profile → Preferences in the app or on the website. You may still receive essential transactional messages such as OTPs and purchase confirmations, which are necessary to provide the service.

Location. Revoke the location permission in your device settings at any time, and select your locality manually instead.

Profile data. Edit your name, email, age range, and gender at any time. Your phone number cannot be changed, as it identifies your account.

6. Deleting Your Account and Data

You can ask us to delete your account and personal data at any time.

Email contact@dealgo.in from your registered email address, or from the phone number registered on your account, with the subject "Delete my account". We will verify your identity and complete the deletion within 30 days.

What is deleted: your profile, contact details, preferences, wishlists, reviews, DealCoins balance, and location data.

What we retain, and why: records of completed purchases and payments, which we are required to keep for tax, accounting, and audit purposes under Indian law, typically for up to eight financial years. These records are retained in a form that is no longer linked to your marketing or behavioural profile.

Deleting your account cannot reverse a purchase, and any unredeemed deals or DealCoins are forfeited.

7. Data Retention

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you stop using the Platform, we retain your data while it remains necessary for the purposes in this policy, and thereafter only where the law requires it.

8. Data Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted storage of authentication tokens on your device, access controls limiting staff access to personal data, and regular review of our systems. Payment credentials are handled solely by our PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway and never reach our servers.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected
  • Have your data erased, subject to Section 6 above
  • Withdraw consent you previously gave
  • Nominate another person to exercise these rights if you are unable to
  • Raise a grievance about how we handle your data

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 12. We respond within 30 days.

10. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the "Last Updated" date. Where changes are significant, we will notify you in the app or by email or WhatsApp before they take effect.

Grievance Officer. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate to our Grievance Officer at contact@dealgo.in, who will acknowledge your complaint within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days, as required under Indian law.
